This is a collaboration I did with Target’s Heyday brand and their artist series. The Heyday defines itself as celebrating art & self-expression in tech, featuring artists who defy expectations by using visual styles to redefine voice, culture & identity.

Process pt.1

First, I hand-sketched a couple of ideas. I wanted these sketches to be in relation to me and what I like. I tend to gravitate to symbolism. Like, for example, the ‘X’ on the hand representing the Roman numeral ten. I was born on the tenth day of May. I then digitized these sketches and added color to them in Photoshop. I kept in mind that this art would be used on a variety of products so I wanted to make sure to fill up all of the space.

Process Pt. 2

We eventually landed on one of the ideas in which I recreated in Illustrator and adjusted the imagery and composition. I also simplified the color palette and pulled from specific Pantone colors that can be used on the products.
